The frequency at which you should “roll-up” your game image (that is, release a full image update), varies based on your unique requirements. You should consider how much disk space you have on your machines, the size of your game image, and how often you scale into the cloud.
For example, if your game image is very small (~ 200 MB), then you may not need to roll-up your image as often as you would if your game image was larger (~ 10 GB).
However, in general, we recommend you release a full image version at least every 10 versions. By doing so, you’ll ensure that your game images never get too large and that your fleet will scale quickly when your CCU rises beyond what your baseline bare metal machines can manage.
