Have you accidentally purchased Unity assets on the wrong organization, or need to consolidate multiple purchases under one account? Unfortunately, users cannot transfer Unity assets themselves due to security restrictions. Asset transfers require assistance from Unity’s Customer Experience team and must follow specific procedures. Whether you're managing an organizational mismatch, transitioning purchases from a former employee’s account, or collaborating with teammates, this guide will walk you through the support-request process to ensure a smooth transfer.
Symptoms:
- I need to share an asset with another developer on my team.
- I want to consolidate all of my Asset Store purchases into one Unity account.
- I have purchased assets on a former employee's account and need to move the assets to a central account.
- I have purchased my asset in the wrong organization, and I need to transfer it.
Cause:
Asset purchases are always tied to the purchasing account. However, the entitlement for the package can be transferred to an alternate organization.
Resolution:
Unity only permits asset transfers between Unity organizations when the purchaser is an owner of both organizations. Before requesting an asset transfer, ensure the following:
You must be a member of both:
- The purchasing organization (where the asset was originally bought).
- The receiving organization (where the asset entitlement needs to be transferred).
To meet this requirement, you’ll need to invite the purchasing account to join the organization as an 'owner', where you want to transfer the asset. To do so, follow the steps outlined in our support article , "How do I invite a new member to my organization?".
Once you’ve verified membership in both organizations, submit a support request to the Unity Customer Experience team. Be sure to include the following details:
- Asset name
- Invoice or order number
- Name of the receiving Unity organization
Important note:
|
If you’d prefer to change the Unity ID associated with an asset and you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can request a refund. Once the refund is processed, you can repurchase the asset using the correct Unity ID. For detailed instructions, refer to our article, 'How do I request a refund on an asset?'.
