Symptoms:
- I would like to know how to download an asset I have purchased.
- I have not been sent a download link for my asset purchase.
- How do I download an asset using version 2020.1 and above?
- How do I download an asset I have purchased within Unity?
- How do I download
.WAV
files purchased from the Asset Store?
Cause:
As Unity does not ship Asset Store purchases using download links or product keys, you may need clarification about how to download your purchased or free asset.
As of Editor version 2020.1, Unity removed the Asset Store window from within the editor, and you may be new to downloading your purchases using the Package Manager.
Resolution:
The Unity Asset Store does not use download links. Assets can be downloaded via the Unity Editor only.
The resolution differs depending on which Editor version you are using. Use the links below to jump to the solution for your Editor version:
Editor versions 2020.1 and above:
- If you have already purchased your asset/ added a free asset to My Assets, launch a new or existing project using the Unity Hub.
- After your project is open, you must open the Package Manager by clicking Window > Package Manager.
- Click the drop-down to select which packages you want to be shown.
- Click My Assets.
- Click the asset name you want to download from the left side list.
- Click Download in the bottom right corner of the window.
After your asset has been downloaded, you can import it into your project or find the
.unitypackage
at:- Windows:
C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Unity\Asset Store-5.x\[PublisherName]
- Mac:
/Users/[UserName]/Library/Unity/Asset Store-5.x/[PublisherName]
To access the raw files, for example
.WAV
files, you first need to 'unzip' the .unitypackage
by importing it into your project. After successfully importing the package, you can find the raw asset files in your project folder. For example:- Windows -
C:\Users\[username]\[project name]\Assets\[asset name]
- Mac -
/Users/[UserName]\[project name]\Assets\[asset name]
Alternatively, browse the Asset Store using your internet browser and find the package you want to download.
- Click Open in Unity.
- This launches the Unity Hub.
- Create a new project or launch an existing one.
- This launches your project and brings up the Package Manager.
- Click Download in the bottom right corner.
Editor versions 2019.4 and below:
Please ensure you are logged into the Unity account on which the asset was purchased.
Please see the steps below on how to download assets once successfully purchased:
- Open the Unity Editor and launch an existing project (or create a new one).
- Click Window > Asset Store.
- Log into your Unity account to access the Asset Store if prompted.
- Find the asset you want to download using the search bar inside the Asset Store window at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can click your name in the top right-hand menu and click My Assets. This gives you a list of your purchases.
- When you're downloading an asset you have purchased previously, you can find the asset from the list and click Download to the right side.
- Alternatively, click the blue Download button on the store page when using the search function for new/ free assets.
After you have downloaded your assets, they can be found in the following locations:
- Windows:
C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Unity\Asset Store-5.x\[PublisherName]
- Mac:
/Users/[UserName]/Library/Unity/Asset Store-5.x/[PublisherName]
If you cannot reveal the Download or Import buttons upon pressing the Buy button, your purchase may not have been completed successfully.

Where is "window" asset store i dont see it anywhere
Hi there,
To view the 'Asset Store' window, there is a button at the top of your screen within the Editor called 'Window'. If you click this, the 'Asset Store' button should appear in this drop-down list. Clicking this will generate the Asset Store window tab inside your editor.
If you still have any issues seeing this, please don't hesitate to contact us so we can investigate this more for you.
Why can you not just show us a list of assets we have purchased? An order list is not effective. Why should i guess which order number was the right one, instead of having a simple list of assets which i have already paid for?
Honestly this system is garbage, and a simple UI consideration that was misssed.
This is NOT WORKING here in version 2018.37 !
'My Orders' is blank.
I've tried the old version but not successfully....
mine keeps saying my account is offline while i'm connected to WiFi
Hi Kelvin,
Please ensure that you are not connected to the VPN while signing in to your account.
If the problem still persist, please submit a ticket to Support team along with the screenshot of the page for us to look into it.
This is stupid. I don't have the Unity Engine or a license for it, all I wanted is to download some photoshop files. I'm not going to pay for a Unity License just to get the stuff I already paid for. There has to be another way to get the pack downloaded.
My internet is good and I don't use VPN but I still can't Connect to the Asset store. Can somebody please help?
Terrible UX. Forcing me to download a 3.2GB Unity Studio so I can download my PSDs. Absolutely diabolical User Experience.
Such a massive barrier. No wonder why UNREAL is smashing it.
I solved the problem of importing an unity package or asset into Unity-3D through this website: To resolve the same please go through this website

Hello Aci and Phillipe.
Derek from Unity Customer Service here. Thanks for reaching out and for your valued feedback.
I can understand why you feel this is a difficult process.
Just to let you know, the Unity Asset store is intended for it's products to be used in the Unity editor. I can appreciate that this isn't everyones' preferred way but the Asset can only be downloaded from inside the Editor. I'm sorry about that.
If you would like to use the Assets outside of Unity, you can always just download the Unity Software, use it to access your purchases. Then you can just uninstall if you didn't want to have Unity installed on your machine.
I can appreciate that this isn't the intended method but if at any point you struggle with getting anything downloaded or want any advice on how to get Unity or Assets downloaded, you can always reach out to me or my team at support@unity3d.com.
We are happy to help. All the best.
Derek.
Hint for the location of the "Package Manager" Window:
The manager is under "Window" ->"Package Manager"!
This should be in the description! I was searching where do I find the Manager.
What if I try to use an asset template?
Create a new unity project requires a template. How do I create a new project with my asset template?
Ha, I arrived in the Asset store from a Google ad link. I browsed around and purchased an asset. Now suddenly I found out that in order to download the asset I have to purchase also Unity !?
Please make it clear in the store that it requires downloading and having a Unity license.
Hi Jan,
Thanks for reaching out.
I am sorry to hear about your issue. You need to download Unity Hub and the Editor to use your assets. But a paid license is not required. You can use a free personal license. I will provide you with more details on your ticket #1145866.
Thank you for your comment.

Hi, I need a refund immediately. This is insane that you aren't able to just download the files you literally just paid for. It's a really sketchy way of selling people stuff. Pls refund immediately.
Hi Jon,
Thanks for reaching out.
I am sorry to hear about your download issue. I see you have made ticket 1220041. I will handle it and contact you via the ticket.
Please check your mailbox. Thank you!
Well this is useless, running Unity Editor without the hub, because for unknown reasons hub wont work on this laptop i use when traveling. So i need to download my assets at home, then copy them to a usb and transfer to this laptop. Package manager does not work without the hub.
Hello Martin,
Thank you for your comment. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing some issues with the Unity Hub and downloading assets from a separate location.
There can be many reasons why these kinds of issues can occur, some of which are not always immediately obvious. The best thing to do would be to help you with this by way of a ticket.
With this in mind, I have created a ticket for you and will reach out to you shortly to help you get these issues resolved.
If there is anything else you need in the meantime, please feel free to email us at support@unity3d.com or alternatively, you can submit a ticket via this web form.
I have assets in my Asset Store page, but when I click Open in Unity, nothing happens. Why on earth would you make people download some sort of software just to then, in turn, download the files they want? ARE YOU FOLKS OUT OF YOUR MINDS? Who on earth designed this insane website? You see that people are complaining about it above, and yet you persist in some sort of mindset that it is necessary. Well, as a former systems developer, I can tell you that IT IS NOT NECESSARY! Use that creative artistic talent that you admire so much to think out of the narrow box you are in and either change your software or get new software!
Hello there,
Thank you for your comment. I am sorry to hear that you feel this way about Unity and the asset download process. We do take your comments and feedback on board and appreciate your sharing this with us.
We are also working to improve the flow of Unity as we understand that things can always be better for our users.
In regards to the 'Open in Unity' button not working, this is most likely due to either not having the Unity Hub and/or Editor open on your machine at the same time. Having said that, sometimes certain restrictions on your browser or machine can prevent Unity from opening when you click that button. That is not something that Unity has any control over sadly.
Assets must be downloaded within Unity via the Package Manager to access the files. Sadly, we cannot provide asset downloads via an email or in another format, due to security concerns, as I am sure you can appreciate. However, once the assets have been downloaded you are free to manage them in whatever way you wish, such as importing them into other programs to work with, if the assets are compatible that is.
If there you continue to have problems downloading your assets, please email us directly at support@unity3d.com or alternatively, you can submit a ticket via this web form.
I am sorry again for the frustration you have faced here but I hope this helps in some way!
