Symptoms:
- I have a Unity Pro/Enterprise/Industry subscription and received an email about Unity Cloud Early Access ending.
- I have a Unity Pro/Enterprise/Industry subscription and received an email about an opt-in experience for pay as you go.
- I have a Unity Pro/Enterprise/Industry subscription and see a banner and/or notification in Unity Dashboard about opting into pay as you go.
Cause:
On November 16th, 2023, Unity released Unity Cloud in Early Access. During Early Access, all Unity subscribers receive Unity Cloud for free, which includes a certain quota of Unity Cloud storage for Asset Manager and DevOps consumption services. During Early Access, Unity subscribers are not charged for using Unity Cloud storage for Asset Manager, and DevOps consumption services beyond their tier limits. If you want to use these services beyond your tier limits after Early Access ends, you will need to opt in to pay as you go.
We are rolling out the ability to opt in to pay as you go in cohorts to existing customers. As a result, some users will see the option appear earlier than users in the later cohorts. If you do not see the option to opt-in to pay as you go on April 22nd, 2024, please check back periodically over the next few weeks to see when the option populates. Your ungated Early Access usage will continue uninterrupted until the option to opt in to pay as you go has been added to your dashboard.
If you opt in, you will be able to continue using Unity Cloud storage for Asset Manager and DevOps consumption services beyond your limits and will receive a monthly invoice for any usage over your tier’s included limits.
If you are below your tier limits and do not opt in, you can continue to use Unity Cloud storage for Asset Manager and DevOps consumption services within your tier limit. After you hit your limit, you will be prevented from further usage until you have opted in.
If you are above any of your tier limits in Unity Cloud storage for Asset Manager and DevOps consumption services and do not opt in, you will be immediately blocked from further use of all Cloud services (Asset Manager and DevOps). You will remain unable to use these services over your tier limits until you have opted in.
Once opted-in, you will be charged for the following services at the pricing listed below per month. You will only be charged for usage above your included quota. For example, a Unity Pro subscriber with a single seat who uploads 60 GB of assets will be charged $7.50 per month. See the Compare Plans page for more details.

Resolution:
If you are a Unity Pro, Enterprise, or Industry subscriber or purchase these plans and want to opt in:
- You will receive an email once you can opt into pay as you go.
- In the Unity Dashboard, you can opt in from the Storage usage page in the Administration section.
- Once you opt in, you will see “Pay as you go” as “Enabled” in the Storage usage page.
If you purchase a Unity Cloud subscription:
- You will be automatically opted in when purchasing the subscription.
If you are a Unity Personal or Unity Cloud Personal user:
- You do not need to opt in as pay as you go is not available for Unity Personal or Unity Cloud Personal users.
Please note that you cannot opt out of pay as you go after opting in. Users will receive alerts when they are close to their tier limits but are ultimately responsible for tracking their cost and usage in the Unity Dashboard. Budget controls are on the product roadmap for the future of Unity Cloud to help you manage pay as you go.
