Key Terms:
Out of compliance: A term used to describe a situation where an individual, organization, or entity fails to adhere to or meet specific rules, regulations, guidelines, or standards that are applicable to their activities or operations. It implies that the subject is not following the required or expected procedures or is violating established rules.
Company Policies: Within an organization, there are often internal policies and procedures that employees must follow. If an employee violates these policies, they are considered "out of compliance."
Confidential Information: Confidential information refers to sensitive or private data that is intended to be kept secret or restricted to a select group of individuals. Error 102 is primarily designed to protect confidential information for Teams and Enterprises using Parsec.
Data Privacy: Understand how user data is collected, stored, and processed. Ensure that the service complies with relevant data protection laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union or other local data privacy regulations.
Domain Verification: Domain verification is the process of confirming ownership or control of a specific domain name by an individual or an organization. It is commonly used in various online services and applications to establish trust, security, and to prevent misuse or abuse of domain-related features.
Website Ownership: Some web services require domain verification to prove that you own the domain associated with the service. This is common in SSL certificate issuance, where the certificate authority may require domain verification before issuing an SSL certificate for secure HTTPS connections.
DNS Verification: The domain owner is asked to create specific DNS records (e.g., TXT records) provided by the verifying service, proving control over the domain's DNS settings.
Error Codes - 102
Why is Parsec showing me this error: "Your email domain has been verified as belonging to a "Parsec for Teams" account. You will not be able to make connections from this domain using personal accounts. Please reach out to your internal IT team for access"?
- You are receiving this error message because your organization has completed the process of Domain Verification, Website Ownership and enabled a Parsec enabled Company Policy to prevent consumer usage for an email that is associated with the verified company domain.
Did I do something wrong?
- Most likely not, but your Parsec administrator is requesting that you login to Parsec in compliance with the terms of service. When out of compliance, you will not be able to make any connections using Parsec until your account is status is corrected.
How do I solve this issue?
- This will vary company by company and even domain by domain. Parsec recommends that you contact your company's IT team that looks after the Parsec application. Depending on how you authenticate into your company's IT services, you may need to re-authenticate.
What if I also want to play games outside my working context using Parsec?
- Parsec for Teams is designed for organizations that want the low-latency, high performance streaming service that the gaming community loves. Many individuals will want to use Parsec within both Work and Play contexts. Parsec recommends that these users have multiple logins and switch between those logins for the context that is relevant at the time.
- For example, John Doe is a game developer for Company ABC. Company ABC has Parsec for Teams and will enable the requirement that a user account as defined by the email address under their verified domain must use a Teams or Enterprise license and adhere to the Data Privacy policies. John Doe also likes to play couch co-op games with friends using Parsec. In this example, Parsec recommends that John Doe maintain 2 seperate Parsec accounts: one for work at Company ABC with an email under the verified domain and and another for personal use and log into the account for each different context.
