Two factor authentication is an important security feature that we recommend you enable on every website you're registered with. On Parsec, you can enable or disable two factor authentication on the account page. The guide below shows how to enable, then how to disable it.
How to enable
- Login to your Parsec account page.
- Click the 'Security' tab.
- Click 'Enable 2FA'
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. For example, Authy or 1Password.
- If you're unable to scan the QR code, you can type in the secret key manually, located below the QR code.
- Type in the code generated by your authenticator app.
- Type in your Parsec account password.
- Provide a recovery email, in case you need to reset your TFA.
- Click 'Enable 2FA'
- Click 'Download Codes'
- These backup codes are extremely sensitive and important. They can be used in place of the TOTP codes generated by your authenticator app, for example if you lose access to your authenticator app or codes. Store your backup codes in a secure location.
How to disable
Two-factor authentication can be disabled at any time by clicking 'Disable 2FA'. You must provide your Parsec account password in order to disable 2FA.
