Symptoms:
- I'm about to purchase a Unity license, but I'm not sure if I qualify as an 'Industry customer.'
- I'm using Unity for a non-game project in manufacturing. What type of license do I need?
Cause:
Sometimes, you would like to know more about the standard when purchasing the Unity Industry license, which business falls to the 'industry user' category since Unity software across various non-gaming sectors, and the specific licensing requirements associated with different types of usage.
Resolution:
When it comes to the term 'Industry Customer', it means an individual or legal entity that licenses Unity software to develop projects for industrial (non-games, non-entertainment) use.
These customers are not limited to the customers who deliver projects for automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, government, architecture, engineering, construction, energy, and retail sectors.
If you're a service provider, Platform, agency, reseller, or similar entity, you may need a separate grant of rights and/or written authorization from Unity.
In case you would like to discuss further about the eligibility of the Industry license, please reach out to the Unity Sales team for clarification and assistance
