How do I renew my Unity subscription?

Symptoms:
  • I have finished my 12-month subscription and am now in 'flexible' status.
  • I want to renew my current subscription for another 12 months immediately.
  • I want to change how my subscription will renew.
  • I purchased my license through the sales department. How do I renew it?
Cause:
 

As with all Unity subscriptions, these automatically renew once the initial commitment period is over.

Unity Pro subscriptions purchased before June 1, 2020, automatically renew into a 'flexible' paid monthly status, which can be canceled at any time.

New Unity Pro subscriptions purchased after June 1, 2020, automatically renew for another 12-month commitment period unless automatic renewal is switched off before renewal.

Note: The online renewal process is only available to users who have purchased their subscriptions through the website. If you have previously purchased your subscription through the sales department, please contact your Unity account executive directly.

Resolution:

If you are the billable owner of a Unity organization, you can use your account settings dashboard to change how your current Unity subscription will renew.

You can choose to pre-pay for your subscription or pay in monthly installments for the year. 

The resolution differs depending on the screen you’re directed to upon purchase. 

If you clicked Complete onboarding on the final screen when purchasing or your subscription has been migrated to the Unity Dashboard, please click here to jump to your resolution.

If your subscription is housed at id.unity.com, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to id.unity.com and sign in to your account associated with your subscription.
  2. Click Organizations to the left of the screen.
  3. Click the name of the organization which contains the subscription you want to renew.
  4. Under the Subscriptions heading, click Manage (cog icon).  Note: If you’re unable to find your subscription listed on this page, it may be managed through the new system. Click here to jump to your resolution.
  5. Click the Manage Subscription tab.

On the Manage Subscription tab page, there are three renewal options: 

  • Monthly (only available for subscriptions purchased before June 1, 2020).
  • 1 year, paid monthly.
  • 1 year, prepaid.

Immediate Renewal of your subscription:

The Subscriptions tab offers two renewal start date options: Immediate or Scheduled.

  • Scheduled Renew: Choose this renewal option to renew your subscription once your initial 12-month commitment period ends. 
  • Immediate Renew: Choose this renewal option to renew your subscription immediately. If you select this, you make your payment as soon as you click Save.

Use Immediate Renewal to make immediate changes to your subscription. For example, you are increasing the number of seats on your current subscription. 

Please note: The option to decrease seats is only available if your subscription is currently in a monthly 'flex' plan or if you choose 'Scheduled Renew'. The change will take place once the commitment period is over.

After selecting your renewal and seat options, click Save/ Next at the bottom of the page to move to the payment page.

I clicked Complete Onboarding during purchase/ My subscription has been migrated to the Unity Dashboard

If your online Unity subscription is housed within the Unity Dashboard, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to dashboard.unity3d.com and sign in using your Unity ID credentials.
  2. Using the left-hand menu, click Projects.
  3. Using the left-hand menu, click Subscriptions.
  4. Click on the Unity subscription you want to manage.
  5. Click Plan Management > Configure plan.

On the Plan Configuration page, there are two renewal options: 

  • 1 year, paid monthly
  • 1 year, prepaid

The Renewal options tab offers two renewal start date options: Immediate or Scheduled.

 

  • Automatic Renew: Choose this renewal option to renew your subscription once your initial 12-month commitment period ends. 
  • Immediate Renew: Choose this renewal option to renew your subscription immediately. If you select this, you make your payment as soon as you click Save.

Use Immediate Renewal to make immediate changes to your subscription. For example, you are increasing the number of seats on your current subscription.  

Please note: The option to decrease seats is only available if you choose 'Scheduled Renew'. The change will take place once the initial 12-month commitment ends.
  1. After selecting your renewal and seat options, click Confirm and review to move to checkout.
  2. Review how your subscription is set to renew > Read the Unity Terms of Service and/or the applicable terms found on Unity's Legal information page, and the Unity Privacy Policy > Click the box to confirm and click Save configuration (for automatic renewal) or Confirm order (for Immediate renewal).*

*If you choose to immediately renew your subscription, payment is taken immediately, adjusting for time unused within the current billing cycle. If you choose automatic renewal, payment is taken at the end of your current commitment period.

Note: Unity Plus licenses will not undergo automatic renewal, nor will there be an option to schedule their renewal.
