Why do Unity use an automated system for Asset Store payouts?

 

 

 

As of March 2019, Unity introduced a new, automated payout system for Asset Store publishers. Before the automated system being introduced, all Asset Store payouts were paid manually and were subject to delays.

 

 

We use an automated payout system for a number of reasons that we believe will benefit our Asset Store publishers.

 

Prior to March 2019, the payout system was manual which caused some payment delays. The introduction of the new automated system means that payouts are more regular, working from an automated schedule depending on the payment method selected.

 

This new system also speeds up our own internal processes, leading to a smoother service for our publishers.

 

This also means that our payment system is centralized within the Unity ecosystem, meaning it is fully accessible under your Unity ID.

 

Finally, we now require basic tax information to be submitted in your Asset Store payout profile. For example, we need to know if we are paying an individual or a company.
