Symptoms:
- How do I receive payments for my assets?
- How do I receive payments from the Asset Store?
- How do I create my Asset Store payout profile?
Cause:
In order to receive payments for your assets from the Unity Asset Store, it is necessary that you setup a payout profile.
Payout profiles will allow automated payments from Unity either monthly (via PayPal) or quarterly (via bank transfer), and they need to be configured in the AS Publisher organization created when you registered as a publisher in the Asset Store.
Resolution:
Before you are able to setup your Asset Store payout profile, you will need to enable the Two Factor Authentication in your Unity account. This is an extra security procedure to ensure that your payout details are safe and only the account holder can change them. Steps to do this can be found here: How do I enable Two-Factor Authentication on my account?
Note: You must be the Organization’s Owner to view, create or update its payout profile.
Payout profiles need to be created/updated by the 28th of the prior month for the profile to be taken into account for the following month's payment.
Once you have enabled the Two Factor Authentication, you can proceed with adding your payout profile.
Create Payout Profile
Please start by logging into your Unity account at id.hq.unity3d.com
- Go to Organizations.
- Select your AS publisher organization.
- Click Payout Profile to the left of the page.
- Click + Add profile.
Next, you will be taken to the page where you will need to enter your TFA code. If you have not enabled the TFA, you will be asked to do it and then you will need to start the process above again.
After entering the TFA code, you will see the page where you need to enter your payout profile information. You will have the option to fill this out as a company or as a private individual.
Important: If you set your profile as a Private individual, Unity can process payment to yourself, rather than as a company (except in Denmark, where Unity can only process payments if you are set up as a company). To register as a private individual, simply enter your legal name in lieu of a company name. If you are based in Denmark, you must select Company and enter your VAT or Business ID number.
Here are a few things to keep in mind whilst entering in your information:
- Company Name: This is for companies only.
- Tax Number: This field is optional; however, EU VAT-registered companies must provide an ID. If you are in Europe this will be your EU VAT ID (European Union Value Added Tax ID).
- Contact Person and their corresponding email address is for companies only.
- Full Name and your corresponding email address for individuals only.
- Payout Reference is how you want to name your payout profile.
Once you have completed all the information, click the green Create button to generate your profile. Your profile information is now saved, and you can edit it anytime by clicking Edit (pencil icon) button.
Now, you need to complete your tax information.
Adding tax information
Unity must collect your relevant tax information in order to withhold taxes where applicable, as required by some tax authorities. You will be required to enter some information including:
- Basic information about yourself.
- Consent to receive information reporting documentation.
- Your overall tax status.
- Your electronic signature and consent to use it.
To validate your tax information, you will need to be logged into your Unity account through id.hq.unity3d.com
- Go to Organizations.
- Select your AS publisher organization.
- Click Payout Profile to the left of the page.
- Click the Create button in front of Payout Tax Info.

You will temporarily leave the Unity ID dashboard to complete your payout tax form.
Note: You will need to complete the entire web form for the information to be saved. If you exit before finishing the form, you will have to start the tax document all over again.
In general, no taxes are deducted from payments to companies or similar entities. However, if you are a private individual, payments are governed by tax agreements between your country and Denmark. These agreements exist to reduce any possible double taxation and set guidelines for personal taxation rules.
Please consult your own tax office for further guidance. Unity will not deduct taxes from your payment. Therefore, handling taxes for your revenue is your responsibility.
Value Added Tax (VAT) numbers
The European Union (EU) requires members to have a VAT number. The local legislation in each country specifies when you need to apply for a VAT number. If you do not have one, select “No VAT” or “None” in the corresponding invoice field.
If you have any specific questions regarding tax in Unity, please direct your queries to taxinquiry@unity3d.com.
When finished, click Exit Payout Tax Info to return to the payout profile page. The Payout Tax Info section takes a few minutes to update. When it does, the Tax status changes to Validated.
If you have more questions about the tax form, please see our tax interview FAQ.
Adding a payout method:
Now that you have set up your profile, you can add your payout method. This will be the bank account or PayPal address to which the money will be sent as currently, Unity only supports PayPal and bank transfers.
To add a payout method, navigate to the Payout Method section of the payout profile page, then click the Edit or + Add payout method button.
On the Add Payout Method page, select an option from the Payout Method drop-down menu.
PayPal
To set up PayPal deposits, select it from the drop down menu, state the minimum payout amount and your registered PayPal email address.
Bank transfers
If you choose bank transfer as a means of payout, you must provide banking details from the account where you want to receive payments. Select Bank transfer from the drop-down menu, then click the Add bank transfer details button.
You will temporarily leave the dashboard to process banking information through our secure partner Worldpay.
The country of your bank dictates the type of transfer (local or international) and type of information Worldpay requests.
Once you have completed the Worldpay form, you will return to the Add Payout Method page.
Note: For bank transfers, the intermediary or the receiving bank may apply charges. If you want to receive the payment in any currency other than USD, there will be conversion fees.
The minimum payout amount for bank transfers is $250 USD.
Finalizing your settings:
When you have finished specifying your payment method and minimum amount, click the Create button to save your selections. Your Payout Profile is now complete.

What would happen if I were to delay on making the profile.. In cases like unable to do it before unity upgrades.. Will i still be able to do manual or unity just doesnt pay out
Would it be possible for Unity to start using TransferWise instead of WorldPay or Paypal? The rates are much better for us freelancers, and I guess it makes no difference for Unity. Thanks!
Ben McCulloch is paypal really that bad in the long run? I want to know cause I use paypal but i wasnt worried due to 10 - 15 bucks
I don't have a mobile phone for the verify :/
For the second time fill the same tax document... this is just stupid. So what happened to one we already sent few months ago? Waste of time.
I've been a seller here since October 2014 yet it seems that my payment may be held hostage unless I read about how to get started selling content. I saw this above my sales:
"ACTION REQUIRED: To receive a payment in mid-March (if you’re eligible for one), please do the following Getting Started Guide before February 28. For more information, see our FAQ. More details here"
Or why doesn't Unity have code to say "this seller has been around for over 4 years and has probably done all the steps in setting up their account"?
Hi there,
Thank you for your comments.
I would urge anyone that has any issues to contact us at the support address linked in the article so we can discuss this with you - we tend to avoid providing support relating to Users/Publishers' financial situations in open areas such as Knowledge Base comments.
How much time do I have to wait before the automated payout happens? Can I still do manual payouts with PayPal?
Hey Yanis!
Thanks for your comment.
The payout timeframe will depend on the payout method you have opted for. For example, payments via Bank/Wire transfer, will be paid to you each quarter, in January, April, July and October.
However, if you chose PayPal as your payout method, you would receive the payout on a monthly basis.
Both payouts are paid on or around the 15th of each month respectively, based on the above.
I hope this has been helpful!
Hi Jarvis,
First of all, I don't know how to reply.
Secondly, if a purchase has been made the 7th of July. Should I have received the payout on the 15th, or am I not understanding how this works?
Edit: My payout method is PayPal and the min. payout is 1.00 USD
Edit 2: Why is the montly revenue tab blank? And what are the "Verify Invoice" and "Users" tab? I'm confused...
Hey Yanis,
No need to worry, you have replied in the right way and I can help you out here.
Each month there is an early cut-off point for payments to be processed for Publishers to receive the payout. For example, any revenue you earn from Asset sales in June, will be paid to you in July's payout, if you opted for PayPal.
All sales made up to the end of July will be paid out on or around the 15th August.
I would recommend having a read over this article to help you get to grips with the payout cycles: When and how will I receive my Asset Store payout?
The 'Verify Invoice' tab is used when processing Asset refund requests and the 'Users' tab is for when you need to manage your team of Publisher Users. This is to allow your users to do some admin within the portal itself.
You can read a full, detailed guide on this by visiting our manual, found here: Unity Manual: Asset Store Publishing
I hope this has been helpful and cleared up any confusion. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at support@unity3d.com and we can help you again!
Thanks for the fast reply, Jarvis. I will contact support if I have more questions!
hey, I just made a change now in my email address of paypal in the asset store profile, however it was just a letter (edu) instead of (edg) that was confirmed by mistake the last months and the revenue portal gave me a message that out payout started at 3 feb, and it is in progress in the transaction history, will this update be considered this months automatically to my paypal account of should i wait one more month or it will fail generally?!

I played magical tree and I paid twice to get my prize.. You said 3-15 days and still nothing. I paid on March 9, 2023 and now it's March 25, 2023.. and still nothing! Scam!!!!
Hello Chelo, thank you for your comment.
Unfortunately, it seems that you are talking about payment or prizes earned from a game made using Unity, our game engine. Just to let you know, Unity does not create, develop or release games or applications ourselves.
I believe what has happened here is you have been playing a game or application that features the 'Made with Unity' logo, which is shown by default for all games or applications that are developed using the free version of our software.
To clarify, Unity is a games engine that other individuals and companies can use to create their own games and applications in. Unity is not affiliated with any developers and is not involved in any games or applications directly, it is simply our software that was used to make them.
What you would need to do here is contact the developers of this game, so they can help you with your issue. You can usually find their contact information on the app store that you downloaded it from.
I hope this has helped to explain things for you.
If there is anything else you need in the meantime, please feel free to email us at support@unity3d.com or alternatively, you can submit a ticket via this web form.
I have a Bank transfer method set up. And my Payout Profile is set to private individual and has my personal details. My Payout Method is Bank Transfer and it has my girlfriend's bank account added to it. (with her name and the city she lives in, same country) Will this be an issue when I get the payment? and is it okay to have a different person's bank account?
Hello Malith.
Derek from Unity Customer Experience here. Thanks for reaching out to us.
in regards to your inquiry. There will be no issue if you decide to have someone else's payout details attached to your payout.
We do however, recommend you checking and complying with the income/tax laws where you reside.
If you have any follow up questions, please contact us on support@unity3d.com
All the best.
