Symptoms:
- When attempting to activate my Unity License I receive a ‘’Machine Identification Is Invalid For Current License’’ error.
Cause:
Generally speaking, the error 'Machine Identification is invalid for current license', is caused by the Unity License File (ULF) attaching itself to the incorrect network adaptor.
Resolution:
To resolve the issue, follow the steps below:
- Close all Unity applications (to quit Unity Hub on Windows, right-click the system tray icon and select 'Quit Unity Hub')
- Press Start
- Type Control Panel into Windows search
- Navigate to Network and Sharing Centre
- Navigate to Change Adapter Settings
- Right-click on your primary network adapter
- Select Disable from the context menu
- Wait about 15 seconds
- Right-click on the primary network adapter again
- Select Enable from the context menu
- Reactive your Unity license by following the steps in the article 'How do I activate my license?'.

this issue just started this past week and now we cannot get past it anymore. already did a complete uninstall, deleted the program data directory, rebooted. still getting this message.
For us it started today. We are unable to use our Unity Plus license (valid till July 2020 and running on the very same machine with no changes), and even Unity Personal license does not work! Deleting all the license files from ProgramData/Unity and PACE doesn't help, license files are recreated but the same message about invalid maching identification persists.
Si es verdad es horrible no poder usar y yo que recién quería empezar con esto de desarrollo de Vídeo juegos que mala onda
I followed this and then some but my unity personal license still doesn't work.
I followed these steps and tried several times but no luck. This is how sad, that you can't implement a proper license server/algorithm for a problem has been there for many years. I wasted my precious time waiting response from support. But still no answer. I am sure they will reply me with the lines above. There is no need to be so intense about hardware/software changes in order to verify the license.
Hakan Nehir,
Have you figured out a solution yet?
No not yet. I uninstalled everything, deleted all registry values. Removed activation from unity website but nothing changes. Also I made a manual activation while trying. No it can't be removed, it is another problem though.
I have deleted everything also and have hand gone through the ULF. but the ULF keeps getting changed to the incorrect machine ID everytime unity hub starts up. I have one last thing to try and that's booting it up connected over ethernet
Im having this issue right now, Im in a fresh install of windows and unity, I dont know what to do.
cannot believe the silence on this by Unity. luckily there is still Unreal Engine ...
FYI, resetting windows and making a fresh install solved the problem.I tried tens of other ways and none of them worked. I need to re-install some apps for a while but finally I will continue to work again.
Issues started today 22 april..
Resolution: IS NOT WORKING!!!
WTH Unity..
I solved the issue! I just installed a legacy version of the hub that I found in this forum post https://forum.unity.com/threads/old-version-of-unity-hub.620128/ and it worked.
Changing Unity Hub from the newest one to 2.0.4 version is working.
I confirm, downgrading to Unity Hub 2.0.4 works both for Personal and Plus license!
Good job!
The same error occurred while updating Unity 5.6.3 to Unity2019.3.11. A solution could not be given until Unity 5.6.3 was installed in the installation path due to defects proposed by the Unity installation wizard and then Unity2019.3.11 was installed in the root path of my PC, and voila, no more problems with the license.
Hi there,
Thanks for your comment on this.
I am sorry to hear you're having trouble with this activation error. In order to try and resolve this, would you mind following the advice below?
I appreciate that you may have already followed some of these steps, but please follow the guide below in the order that they are written, to ensure the process works for you.
1 - Uninstall Unity from your machine entirely. (Both the Hub and any version of the Editor you have)
2 - Delete your .ULF files
You can find these files by following either of these file paths, depending on your operating system:
3 - Restart your machine (do not skip this step)
4 - Once up and running again, disable any superfluous network adapters (If you are plugged in via ethernet, disable your WIFI connection)
5 - Re-download the Unity Hub to your machine.
You can visit the Unity download archive by visiting this link: https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive
6 - After the reinstall, launch the Hub with Admin Permissions (Windows only)
7 - Activate your license
After following these steps and if you're still having trouble, please reach out to us via support@unity3d.com
Just try a "Windows in-place update" and in case you are using some "killer network" drivers; Get rid of them. That fixed it for me!!
Hi Ludwig,
Thanks for your comment and solution :)
Dear users.
Please find the more information from below video if you want to try "Window in-place update" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BWh0YRmnT8
I hope it helps.
Ya tengo la solución, esto no funciona, lo que debe hacer es ir a este enlace y descargar la versión anterior durante mucho tiempo y luego lo dejaré:

a mucho tiempo me refiero a la version 2.2.2
Hola Crazy creeper 35,
Gracias por su comentario y solución.
I figured out the fix. I just made a video tutorial that shows how to fix it. Because deleting the file and restarting never did a thing for me. I am currently exporting it and will send a link after it uploads to YouTube.

Hi Gabe,
Thanks for the comment.
Dear users,
If you cannot fix this issue with above suggestion, please try with manual activation by following this video : https://youtu.be/mLjHHTryBEY
What seems to work best for me is to open up task manager and end task anything to do with unity. Then open the unity icon and reactivate your licence. It should then work.
I Still learning, start to programing ? Already uninstaled, deleted the hidden file and instaled again and the problem stay
