Lobby is designed to be lightweight and therefore does not maintain persistent connections. Since there are no websockets established, players must poll the Lobby services for changes including situations such as other players joining and leaving. It’s recommended to poll at recommended intervals for changes such as these while staying within the rate limits described in Rate limits.
