NOTE: This is only applicable for Vivox Developer Portal users. Unity Dashboard users do not go through this process and add Vivox to their applications through the Unity Dashboard.
To create an application, go to your Application Dashboard on the Developer Portal by using the App Dashboard link on the left side of the page. From the Application Dashboard, you can select New Application in the upper-right corner of the page, or you can select the Create New Application card in the lower-left of the page, which is displayed in the following image.
You will then be presented with Step 1/2 of the Create a New Application flow, which is detailed in the following image. On this page, you set your application name, internal identifier, genres, and optionally, any sample game images.
- Application or Game Name
The application or game name, which is only seen by members of your organization and Vivox. You can change this value after you create your application. - Vivox Internal Identifier
Caution: This value cannot be changed after application creation.
The application internal identifier is a unique 8 character alphanum string that is used in conjunction with your organization identifier to create your application issuer. This application issuer identifies your application on the Vivox network. - Game Genres
These values are used to understand what type of application/game you are creating. They do not affect your application/game. You can change these values after you create your application. - Game Images
Uploading game images helps to customize your experience on the Developer Portal and allows you to better identify your applications. Uploading game images is an optional process, and you can change any uploaded images after you create your application.
When you select Continue, you are then presented with Step 2/2 of the Create a New Application flow, which is displayed in the following image. On this page, you set the engine that your application uses, the platforms that your application will run on, and select whether you will support cross-play.
Note: All of these settings are required and cannot be changed after you create your application.
- Engine
Caution: This value cannot be changed after application creation.
The engine defines which SDKs are suggested to you when the application is created. However, this value does not limit the engines that you can use, and all SDK packages are always available from the SDK Library link on the left border of the Developer Portal. - Platforms
Caution: This value cannot be changed after application creation.
The platform selections define which SDKs are suggested to you when the application is created, and which platforms can communicate through Vivox. It is recommended that if you are planning on adding platforms for an application, add them at this time to avoid having to recreate an application later. - Cross-play support
Caution: These values cannot be changed after application creation.
Cross-play support determines whether an application allows users from multiple platforms to join the same match, and whether users require placement into the same channel.
After you select Create App, you are taken to the Application Detail view, as displayed in the following image. On this page, you can find your custom application credentials.
