Symptoms:
- You’re unable to access your Unity project from the Unity Editor despite being part of your organization.
- Your name appears on the Project Members page, but you can’t select the project in the editor.
- Attempting to access project settings results in restricted access.
Cause:
This issue occurs when you are added as an Organization Member but not as an individual Project Member. Organization-level access does not automatically grant access to specific projects within the Unity Editor. Only users explicitly added as Project Members can view and interact with a project in the Unity Editor.
Resolution:
To gain access to the project in the Unity Editor, follow these steps:
- Go to the Unity Dashboard and navigate to the Projects section.
- Select the project you need access to.
- Open the Project Members page within that project.
- Ask someone with project admin privileges to add you as a Project Member:
- They should go to Project Settings > (select project) > Project Members.
- Select Add Members and add your name/email address.
- Once added as a Project Member, you’ll be able to select and access the project in the Unity Editor.
More Information:
Seeing yourself listed on the Project Members page can be misleading, as this often reflects inherited organization membership rather than explicit project membership. For full access, ensure that you’re individually added to each project you need to work on in the Unity Editor.
