Symptoms:
- I need to get a signed Data Processing Addendum (DPA).
- I'm looking to contact the department that handles DPAs.
Cause:
- The school has a Privacy Agreement that needs to be signed by Unity in order to use their services.
Resolution:
Unity doesn't sign DPAs. However, if the school is using our Education Grant License (EGL) product, Unity does not collect any student data.
If your school is utilizing the Educational Grant License (“EGL,”) this product only collects personal information from the account administrator, typically the teacher, during the application process. Please refer to Unity’s Educational Products Privacy Policy for more information.
Other services or products offered by Unity that are not intended for educational institutions, may require the creation of a Unity account and would result in the collection of personal information.
Note: Please be aware that if students meet the age requirements for valid privacy consent under applicable laws (e.g., 13+ in the US), they can apply for our free Student Plan and create their own Unity accounts independently, without involving the school. This usage is governed by our general Privacy Policy. |
If the school wants to prevent collecting student data, it can disable the Unity sign-in requirement by following step 5 of the EGL activation tutorial.
