I see an error signing up for the PlayStation® Discussions forum “A critical error occurred while processing your request. Please try again later.”

Cause

You may see this error when trying to join the PlayStation® Discussions forum through your Unity account. This usually means your Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) email is already linked to a different Unity ID.

What this error means

  • Your SIE email is already associated with another Unity ID.
  • This can happen if you previously linked an SIE email to a Unity account that you no longer use or can’t access, and you’re now trying to link that same SIE email to a different Unity ID. The system doesn’t allow linking the same SIE email to multiple Unity accounts.

Resolution

Since this is a system-level conflict, it requires resolution by Unity’s internal support team.

  1. Submit a support request:
    • Open a support ticket describing the error message and that your SIE email is already linked to another Unity ID.
  2. Include the following details in your request:
    • The SIE email address you’re trying to use.
    • The Unity ID (email) you want removed from the database, if known.
    • Your current Unity ID (email) you plan to use going forward.
  3. Try again:
    • Once you receive confirmation from the support team that the previous link has been removed, repeat the sign-up and linking process for the PlayStation Discussions forum using your current Unity ID.
