This article is intended for users who previously used floating licensing but changed to node-locked licenses.
Symptoms:
- I used to have a floating license. Now my projects won't open.
- I can't activate my new seat-based license after using a floating license previously.
- I changed my license type from floating to serial, and now I can't activate it.
Cause:
The Unity Hub is still searching for a license from the floating server rather than looking for an activation on your machine.
Resolution:
During the set-up of your floating license, a file is created in your Hub directory, services-config.json (Typically found here: C:\ProgramData\Unity\config\)
To get the Hub out of 'floating mode', you need to remove the values licensingServiceBaseUrl and toolset from that file.
Theservices-config.json could contain other settings for your company environment, for this reason, it is not recommended to remove the services-config.json entirely if you're unsure of the consequences.
