Symptoms:
- I am using a Floating or Build Server License.
- I want to set up the Server in a virtual or cloud environment, such as an EC2 or a Docker instance.
Cause:
This scenario is not officially supported by Unity’s Floating License technology.
We do not recommend hosting the Licensing Server in virtual environments as the server becomes bound to one machine during the setup process and is designed to run entirely offline.
In virtual or cloud environments, these bindings can change if the instance is stopped or restarted which will invalidate the Licensing Server.
Resolution:
It is recommended that you set up a dedicated physical machine to run the License Server.
If you have already set up your License Server on a virtual environment and wish to change this or your instance has restarted and since doesn’t work, you will need to contact Customer Service and request your License Server be reset.
More Information:
Please ensure the License Server is configured on the correct machine, as once you have the License Server set up, you will not be able to move it to another machine without further assistance from Support.
