How do I activate my SpeedTree Enterprise license?

SpeedTree Enterprise is sold with node-locked and/or floating licenses. To activate a node-locked license, paste the license text you received into Help > Licensing Info > Pro/Enterprise in the SpeedTree Modeler and click Apply. To use a floating license, install the RLM License Administration Bundle on your license server, place your .lic and .set files in the RLM folder, run rlm.exe, then point each client machine at that license. If you have not received your license key yet, request it from Help> Licensing Info > Use a license > Request a license, or email licensing@speedtree.com.

 

Cause:

Enterprise licenses are not tied to your Unity ID sign-in. The Modeler stays unlicensed until you apply a license key, or until it can reach a running RLM license server.

 

 If you have not received your license key yet

  1. In the SpeedTree Modeler, go to Help > Licensing Info and switch to the Use a license tab.
  2. Click Request a license.
  3. If the mail link does not open, email licensing@speedtree.com directly.

In your request, state whether you need node-locked licensing, floating licensing, or both, and whether your license server is a virtual machine.

 

Resolution:

  • Node-locked license activation

    1. Open the SpeedTree Modeler.

    2. Go to Help > Licensing Info.

    3. Switch to the Pro/Enterprise tab.

    4. Copy the full license text you received and paste it into the box below License.

    5. Click Apply.

A node-locked license works only on the machine whose Host ID was used to generate it.

 

  • Floating license activation

Important

Before you start, make sure you have both files from the SpeedTree licensing team: a license file (for example customer.lic) and a configuration file (for example idvinc.set). If you do not have the configuration file, download it from the attachment at the bottom of this article. If you have neither, contact licensing@speedtree.com.

  1. Download the RLM Admin Bundle 
    Visit the Reprise Software site and download the desired RLM License Administration Bundle for your server platform.
  2. Install the Bundle 
    Install the downloaded bundle on the machine designated to act as your license server.

  3. License File Deployment
    You should have received two files from the SpeedTree licensing team: a license file (e.g., customer.lic), and a configuration file (e.g., idvinc.set). Copy both files to the RLM installation folder on your server machine.

    Note: If you do not have the configuration file, you can download it as an attachment file at the bottom of this article. 

  4. RLM Server Activation
    - Run the RLM executable (rlm.exe) from the RLM folder. 
    - Ensure that the startup dialog indicates the use of the provided .lic file.
  5. Web-Based Administration Panel
    - Open a web browser and navigate to the server machine to the following URL:  http://localhost:5054 
    - Log in with the default user and password:
    • user: admin
    • password: admin

      Note: Change the default password to your own to avoid issues with RLM.
      Then, use this panel to check the status of your license server, view active licenses, and perform any license management tasks.

Client Machine Configuration

On each client machine running the SpeedTree Modeler, configure access to the floating license using one of the following methods:

  1. File Copy Method
    Copy the .lic license file to the same directory as the SpeedTree Modeler executable
  2. Manual Entry Method
    - Open the license file to edit it.
    - Open the SpeedTree modeler > Help > Licensing info.
    - Copy the first line of the license text into the "License" text box and click on apply for it to activate.

Launch the SpeedTree Modeler on the client machine. To confirm that the license activation is successful, go to the Modeler and click on 'Help' > 'Licensing Info' to ensure the license is active.
