How do I activate my SpeedTree Indie / Pro license?

Indie and Pro licenses bought from the Unity SpeedTree store are activated by signing in with your Unity ID in SpeedTree Modeler. 

Launch the Modeler, select Login with Unity ID in the SpeedTree Licensing dialog, and finish signing in through your browser. The Modeler verifies your license and starts automatically. If it does not complete, sign in to the Unity Hub first and try again. If the problem continues, contact licensing@speedtree.com.

 

Cause

If you purchased your SpeedTree license online through the Unity SpeedTree website, your Indie or Pro license is activated by signing in with your Unity ID. This uses the standard Unity authentication workflow and checks your Unity ID account for a valid SpeedTree license automatically. It requires SpeedTree Modeler v10.2 or later.

The SpeedTree Modeler requires a valid license to run. If none is active, the SpeedTree Licensing dialog appears at startup with two options:

  • Login with Unity ID — for Indie and Pro licenses purchased online
  • Use a license — for Enterprise license keys

 

 

Resolution

To activate with your Unity ID (Indie & Pro):

 

Indie and Pro licenses bought from the Unity SpeedTree store require SpeedTree Modeler v10.2 or later.

 

To activate with a Unity ID, follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the SpeedTree Modeler (v10.2 or later).
  2. In the SpeedTree Licensing dialog, select Login with Unity ID.
  3. Click 'Login…'.
  4. Complete the Unity sign-in process in your browser.
  5. The Modeler verifies your license and starts automatically. If several licenses are linked to your account, the correct one is selected for you

The dialog also has Force fresh login, which clears cached authentication and starts a new sign-in, and Purchase now… and Manage account…, which open the relevant Unity pages in your browser.

 

If activation does not complete:

  1. Quit the SpeedTree Modeler.
  2. Open the Unity Hub.
  3. Sign in with your Unity ID
  4. Once you are successfully logged into the Unity Hub, reopen the SpeedTree Modeler.
  5. Try Login with Unity ID again.
