How do I activate my SpeedTree Indie / Pro license?

Resolution:

The SpeedTree Modeler requires a valid license to run. When the application starts, the SpeedTree Licensing dialog appears if a license has not yet been activated.

There are two ways to license the SpeedTree Modeler:

  • 'Login with Unity ID'
  • 'Use a license.'

 

Both methods unlock the full functionality of the SpeedTree Modeler once a valid license is detected.

The 'Login with Unity ID' option is the most common method for activating SpeedTree Indie or Pro licensing, while the latter 'Use a license' method mainly applies to SpeedTree Enterprise license keys.

Login with Unity ID:

If you purchased your SpeedTree license online through the Unity SpeedTree website, your SpeedTree Indie/Pro license is activated by signing in with your Unity ID. 

This uses the standard Unity authentication workflow and automatically checks your Unity ID account for a valid SpeedTree license.

Note: You will need to be running SpeedTree Modeller v10.2 (or higher), downloadable here.

To activate with a Unity ID, follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the SpeedTree Modeler.
  2. In the SpeedTree Licensing dialog, select 'Login with Unity ID'.
  3. Click 'Login…'.
  4. Complete the Unity sign-in process in your browser.
  5. Once authentication is complete, the Modeler will automatically verify your license and start.
  6. If multiple licenses are associated with your account, the appropriate license will be selected automatically.
  • “Force fresh login” clears any cached authentication and prompts a new Unity sign-in.
  • The “Purchase now…” and “Manage account…” buttons open the relevant Unity pages in your browser.

If you continue to encounter activation issues after taking the steps above, please take the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Close / quit the SpeedTree Modeller software
  2. Open the Unity Hub
  3. Log in with your Unity ID on the Unity Hub
  4. Once you are successfully logged into the Unity Hub, reopen the SpeedTree Modeller software
  5. Re-attempt activation (via Unity ID login) for your SpeedTree subscription
