SpeedTree Indie /Pro subscriptions allow only one active login per seat tied to a Unity ID, causing errors if used on multiple machines simultaneously. To resolve, sign out on the current device, wait 10 minutes, then sign in on the desired machine. Enterprise licenses use different methods and are unaffected. Contact support if issues persist or access to the original machine is lost.
Cause:
SpeedTree Indie / Pro subscription plans allow a single login per subscription seat. This error appears when you attempt to activate or launch the SpeedTree Modeler on a second computer while a session is still registered on another device.
- Indie / Pro license: the seat is tied to your Unity ID account, and only one machine can hold it at a time. These are the plans affected by this error.
Please note that Enterprise license users use node-locked keys (tied to a Host ID/MAC address) or a floating RLM license server instead of login-based seats, so they do not produce this error.
Resolution:
To resolve the issue, follow the steps below:
- Sign out of the SpeedTree Modeler on your current machine.
- Wait a full 10 minutes without attempting to sign in.
- Open the SpeedTree Modeler on the machine you want to use and sign in with your Unity ID.
Note: The license server enforces a 10-minute refresh window after sign-out to prevent abuse of license switching between machines. Attempting to log in before the 10 minutes have elapsed will return the same error.
If you still receive the error after following the above steps, or you no longer have access to the machine holding the session, please contact support@speedtree.com. You can also submit a request through the Unity Support Help Center under the SpeedTree product categories.
