You can cancel your Unity Pro/Enterprise subscription to manage costs, but you will lose the ability to build for Xbox until reactivated. Xbox development tools and settings remain installed, so no full reinstallation is needed, though minor updates might be required. Access to Xbox forums is retained but may change. Review Unity's terms, as annual subscriptions can't be canceled mid-term. Contact Unity support for more help.
Important Note:
Please review the terms and conditions of your subscription, as Unity’s annual subscription cannot be canceled mid-term. For full details on how to cancel your subscription, please refer to the article below.
How do I cancel my subscription?
-
Access to Xbox Development Tools:
Once your Pro/Enterprise subscription expires, the Unity editor will notify you that your current license doesn’t support Xbox development. This means you won’t be able to build for Xbox, but all your tools and settings will remain installed.
If you haven’t wiped your machine, the Xbox-related features of Unity will remain intact. You won’t lose everything, though you won’t be able to build for Xbox without an active Pro/Enterprise subscription. -
Building for Xbox:
Without an active Pro/Enterprise subscription and license, you won’t be able to build for Xbox. All the necessary tools will still be installed, but you can’t create Xbox builds until your Pro/Enterprise subscription is reactivated. -
Reinstallation of SDKs and Unity Settings:
You won’t need to reinstall everything when you reactivate your Pro/Enterprise subscription. However, you might need to make minor updates, especially if a newer GDK version or Unity editor update is released. In most cases, your previous settings will remain intact, but be ready to adjust some settings or update specific SDKs. -
Effort to Resume Development:
Once your Pro/Enterprise subscription is reactivated, you’ll be able to return to your previous development setup with minimal effort. However, if a new version of the GDK or the editor is released, additional setup might be required. -
Forum Access:
If your Pro/Enterprise subscription is temporarily canceled, you may lose access to the Xbox forums. You will receive an email that details the time period you have to renew your subscription to avoid being removed from the forums.
If you need to reapply for access to the Xbox forums, you’ll be able to do so by going through the authorization process again.
