Unity’s publisher verification process confirms that every publisher is a real individual or a legitimate organization, improving marketplace trust and safety. All publishers must complete identity verification via Persona using a government-issued ID and live selfie. Organizations must also complete business verification with a D-U-N-S Number, and domain verification by adding a DNS TXT record. Publishers choose Individual or Organization, prepare required documents and access, and can consult FAQs or support for issues.
To build a safer and more trustworthy marketplace for all developers, Unity is introducing a new publisher verification process. This framework ensures that every publisher account is operated by a real person and, for organizations, a legitimate legal entity.
This new process is designed to be as automated and straightforward as possible. This guide will walk you through the steps and link to more detailed articles for each stage.
The verification process at a glance
The verification journey consists of up to three main pillars. All publishers must complete identity verification. Publishers enrolling as an Organization must also complete business and domain verification.
- Choose your entity type: Decide if you are publishing as an Individual or an Organization. This choice determines which verification steps are required.
- Identity verification: All publishers must confirm their identity by submitting a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie through our secure, third-party partner, Persona.
- Business verification (Organizations only): Publishers registered as Organizations must verify their legal entity using a Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) D-U-N-S® Number.
- Domain verification (Organizations required; Individuals optional): Organizations must prove ownership of their web domain. This protects your brand and reserves your unique namespace for publishing.
Before you begin: Prepare your information
To ensure a smooth process, we recommend having the following ready before you start:
- (All publishers) A valid, non-expired government-issued ID (e.g., Passport, Driver's License, National ID).
- (Organizations) Your organization's legal name, as registered with Dun & Bradstreet.
- (Organizations whose domain isn’t already provided via DUNS) Access to your domain's DNS settings to add a TXT record.
- (Individuals who choose to verify a domain) Access to your domain's DNS settings to add a TXT record.
