Transactions in the Unity Asset Store can fail due to various reasons, including bank or card issuer blocks, personal network issues like VPNs, mismatched billing details, intermittent network errors (ESOCKETTIMEDOUT), unsupported payment methods, or additional security reviews (Error 80.133.194). Authorization holds may appear but are usually released within 72 hours. Contact your bank or Unity Customer Experience for assistance. ✨️
Cause:
Sometimes transactions in the Asset Store can fail during the purchasing process. These failures can be due to a variety of reasons.
Resolution:
If you saw an error while ordering, it is unlikely that Unity charged you. You may still see the amount on your card or PayPal account, but this is an authorization hold. Your bank releases it within 72 hours.
There are many potential reasons a payment may fail in the Asset Store. Here are the most common causes and resolutions:
Your bank or card issuer is blocking the transaction:
This is the most common cause. When your bank flags a transaction it places a soft block on your card, which can happen even after you pass their security confirmation. Contact your bank or card issuer directly and ask them to allow payments to Unity.
Personal network blocks:
An IP mismatch conflicts with the transaction. Turn off any VPN or proxy software and try again. If your internet service provider is altering your IP, use another network or a mobile hotspot.
Billing details do not match the payment instrument:
Your billing address must match the address on your payment instrument exactly, including postal or zip code and country. Check the details on your Unity account and organization against your card. To update them, see the Unity Knowledge Base article, How do I add both the 'Bill To' and 'Ship To' details to my Unity Organization?
ESOCKETTIMEDOUT - Intermittent network issues:
The error code ESOCKETTIMEDOUT appears after you are redirected from your bank's security page. Most of these orders complete within a few minutes. If you cannot access the asset within ten minutes, the transaction failed and you need to purchase again.
An unsupported payment instrument:
The Asset Store accepts a wide range of payment methods. If your payment instrument is not listed in the store, your transaction will fail. Instead, you will need to use one of the accepted forms of payment:
Please make sure you are using a supported payment method.
Error 80.133.194: This transaction was flagged for additional review:
This error is related to an additional security measure in which accounts and transactions are routinely reviewed as part of Unity’s standard due diligence process. Contact Customer Experience for further assistance.
