Symptoms:
- I need to assign a role to a member within my organization.
- I want to change the role of an existing member in my organization.
Cause:
If you are the Owner or Manager of an organization, you might need to assign roles to members within your organization so that they can perform new actions, such as creating a new project, assigning new and existing members seats to use, and assigning roles.
Note: only a member with Owner status in an organization can change other members to Owner status. |
Resolution:
If you are a Unity organization Owner or Manager, you can assign new roles to members at id.unity.com or cloud.unity.com. These platforms have slightly different looks but work the same way.

To change or assign a Unity organization role to a user at id.unity.com, follow the below steps:
- Navigate to id.unity.com and sign in.
- From the left side menu, select Organizations, then select your organization name.
- Select Members & Groups from the left side menu.
- Navigate to the user you want to change the role of and select Edit to the right of their name. (pencil icon).
- Under Organization Role, click the dropdown menu to select the new role for this member.
- Select Save.
To change or assign a Unity organization role to a user at cloud.unity.com, follow the below steps:
- Navigate to cloud.unity.com and sign in.
- If you're not already in the correct organization, switch your organization by selecting your current organization name > Switch organization > select your new organization.
- From the left side menu, select Administration > Organization members.
- Select Manage user roles (...) to the right of the user you want to manage.
- Select Edit user type in organization.
- Using the dropdown menu, select the role you want to assign to this user then click Save.
