Cross-org points billing in Unity allows users across multiple organizations to bill AI usage to the organization that holds their Unity AI entitlement, without transferring projects. This user-level setting enables seamless AI billing across organizations, showing the selected organization's credit balance in the Editor. It requires a qualifying license and does not affect other team members. We will add more features to help you manage credit allocation more efficiently. For issues, contact Unity Support.
Who this is for
This feature is built for creators who:
- Belong to more than one Unity organization.
- Hold a qualifying Unity AI entitlement (Unity Pro, Unity Enterprise, Unity Industry, or an AI subscription seat) in one organization.
- Want to use AI on a project that belongs to a different organization, without transferring the project itself.
Before you start
A couple of things to check before you set this up:
- Your billing organization needs a qualifying license or an AI points subscription. Organizations without one will not appear as an option.
- This is a user-level setting. It applies only to your Unity ID and to how your usage is billed; it will not change anyone else's billing on the project.
Set your billing organization
Follow these steps in the Unity AI Assistant settings:
- Navigate to cloud.unity.com and sign in if prompted.
- Open the Unity AI Assistant from the left-side Shortcuts panel > select Settings.
- Find the Points Billing Organization section.
- Using the dropdown menu, choose the organization whose AI points you want to use, or select your project’s organization to keep the default.
That is it. From now on, your AI usage in that project will draw from the AI credit balance organization you selected, and your Editor will show that organization’s credit balance so you always know what you have to work with.
Good to know
- It follows you, not your team: the setting only affects the person who sets it.
- Your balance view updates as well: the Editor shows the balance for whichever organization you are billing, so you will not see false low-balance warnings.
- Usage still shows up on the project side: right now, generation jobs still appear in your project organization’s job list and usage reports. Admins in your billing organization will see points leave their balance, but will not yet see the matching job details on their end.
- If your entitlement changes: If the organization you have selected loses its qualifying license, you will see a warning in the Dashboard and will need to choose another organization or switch back to the default.
What this does not cover yet
A couple of related capabilities are still on the way, so you know what to expect:
- Splitting a shared credit pool across multiple organizations is not yet supported.
- The Dashboard’s credit balance and usage views work the same way as before; they always reflect the organization you are currently viewing.
