A Unity subscription is suspended when monthly payments fail due to issues like expired cards, declined payments, or flagged transactions. To reactivate, outstanding payments must be settled, as subscriptions cannot be paused. Legacy 'flex' term subscriptions expire after 14 days of non-payment and cannot be reactivated, requiring a new purchase and a new 12-month commitment. Update payment methods as needed and contact Customer Experience if problems persist. ✨️
Cause:
A subscription is suspended when a monthly payment is not received. While there are outstanding payments on your account you cannot use the subscription license or buy add-ons. Payments commonly fail because:
- The payment method has expired.
- The payment method does not support recurring charges.
- The card issuer or bank declined the payment.
- There were insufficient funds available.
- There is a problem with a card attached to the PayPal account.
- The payment was flagged for review as part of Unity's standard checks.
Resolution:
If your Unity subscription license has been suspended due to outstanding monthly payments, you must pay the total amount left outstanding on your subscription before you can use it again.
As subscriptions cannot be paused, all missed monthly payments are taken once your payment details are updated. This is only applicable to those still within a 12-month commitment period.
To update your subscription payment method, see the steps in the article, 'How do I change or update the payment method on my account?'
Unity Pro and Unity Plus subscriptions that have a legacy 'flex' term expire if payment is not made within 14 days of the due date. Subscriptions cannot be reactivated once expired.
After your subscription expires, you need to purchase a new one from the Unity Store page. Please note that this will enter you into a new 12-month commitment period.
If the payment still does not go through after you update your details, contact the Customer Experience team.
