How do I download Unity?

Symptoms:
  • I want to download the Unity Editor.
  • I cannot find where to download the Unity Editor.
Cause:
 
It is best practice to download the Unity Editor using the Unity Hub. However, it is possible to use the Unity Editor as a standalone program and without the Unity Hub, if needed.
 
Resolution:
 
To use the Unity Editor, users must have a Unity ID account. If you do not have an account, you can create one at id.unity.com.
 
After creating a Unity ID account, follow the below steps to download and install the Unity Hub and Editor. If you have already installed the Unity Hub, jump to Installing the Unity Editor.
 
Downloading and installing the Unity Hub
  1. Go to the Download Unity! site.
  2. Click Download for Windows or Download other versions.download-unity-1.png
  3. If you are using a Windows machine, go to (i) Installing the Unity Hub on Windows.
    If you are using a macOS machine, go to (ii) Installing the Unity Hub on macOS.

    (i) Installing the Unity Hub on Windows.

    1. Click the UnityHubSetup.exe file.

    2. Read the License Agreement and click I Agree to continue. download-hub-windows-1.png
    3. Select the destination folder, and click Install to continue.

      Important: You must install the Hub on the drive where your OS is installed.

      Installing the Unity Editor

      (ii) Installing the Unity Hub on macOS.       

      1. Click the UnityHubSetup.dmg file.


      2. Read the license agreement and click Agree to continue.

      3. Drag and drop the Unity Hub icon onto the Applications folder to install.

Installing the Unity Editor

  1. Click the account icon in the top left of the window and sign in to your Unity ID.
  2. After you are signed in, click Installs > Install Editor.
  3. Click the blue Install button to the right of the Editor version you want to use.
  4. Select the modules you want to use > click the blue Install button to continue.
If you cannot find the version(s) of the Editor you want to use within the Unity Hub, you can download them from the Unity Download Archive.
