Symptoms:
- Issues occurred after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 related to Unity Industry/Enterprise license.
- The same problem persisted despite taking several measures such as removing the existing Unity Hub program and reinstalling Unity Hub.
- XML license files kept disappearing after rebooting or refreshing.
- Projects in Unity Hub were not opening normally.
Cause:
The problem stemmed from the Unity Industry/Enterprise license not syncing properly during the Windows OS upgrade process. This resulted in continuous release of the license and issues with license file persistence.
Resolution:
To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
1. Erase the node-locked license file remaining in the local machine:
- Windows Route: %LocalAppData%\Unity\Licenses\[Serverid]_[SubscriptionInfo]_[LEASETOKEN].xml
2. Ensure there are no licenses on the [Preferences]-[Licenses] page after deleting the .xml files and logging back into Unity Hub.
3. Log out from Unity Hub if you're already logged-in
4. Release all legacy activation history assigned to a specific user account and assign the same serial number to account once again
5. Go back to Unity Hub and log-in with your ID/Password credential
6. Verify if the Unity project opens normally in the existing Unity Hub.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue caused by recognizing a wrong license from local machine.
