If an email address appears in red when you try to invite someone to your Unity Organization, it means the invitation couldn’t be sent due to an account or system limitation.
A red email does not mean the email address is invalid.
This issue is usually related to invitation limits or account status.
Most common reasons
1. The user is already a member
If the user is already part of your Organization, Unity won’t allow another invitation.
2. The email has too many pending invitations
An email address can have up to 20 pending invitations across Unity Organizations.
If that limit is reached, new invitations are temporarily blocked.
This usually happens when:
The user hasn’t created a Unity ID yet
They’ve been invited to many projects or Organizations
3. Temporary system issues
Occasionally, short-term system or network issues can cause an invitation to fail.
How to fix it
-
Check your Members list
Make sure the user isn’t already in the Organization.
-
Ask the user to check their account
Have they received many Organization invites?
Have they created a Unity ID with that email?
-
Resolve the limit
Create a Unity ID using the same email address: How do I create a Unity ID account?
orAsk other Organization admins to cancel unused invitations
-
Try again later
If it’s a temporary system issue, retrying after a short wait may work.
If the issue persists after creating a Unity account, please contact the Unity Customer Experience team.
