Symptoms:
- I want to know how to manage users' access to projects in the Unity organization.
- I want to grant different project access to certain users in my organization.
- How can I give project access to users in my organization?
Cause:
Unity organization members are listed as project members of all projects within their organization. However, they still need to be assigned the correct roles to access a project's data and services.
Resolution:
Note: By default, all project members have the same user type as in the organization. Any changes that you make apply only to the permissions for the selected project and don't affect member user types in the organization as a whole. |
An Owner or a Manager can change the user's roles at both organization and project levels.
To change a member's user type or roles or in a project, follow these steps:
- In Unity Cloud, go to Projects, and then select a project.
- On the Project members tab, navigate to the member whom you want to edit. Go to the Manage user roles menu (…), and then select Edit user type in project.
- Select the user type that you want to assign to the member, and then select Save.
- From the Manage user roles menu (…), select Edit roles in project.
- Select the roles that you want to assign to the member, and then select Save.
If you assign a role to an organization member at the organization level, this grants the organization member access to the data and services of all projects that require this specific role. Within a project, the member's role is labeled Inherited from the organization.
If you assign a role to a project member at the project level, this grants the project member access to the data and services of this specific project only. Within the project, the member's role is labeled Individual Grant.
Please note that roles and permissions through Unity Cloud are solely for project syncing with Unity Gaming Services, not for accessing project content. If you want to manage access to your Unity Version Control System, please refer to the Get Started with Unity DevOps Version Control article.
