Symptoms:
- When I try to verify my account, I receive the error "Something went wrong. Sorry, this link is no longer valid. Please try again if you still need to verify your email address."
- Resending the verification link and trying different email addresses does not resolve the issue.
Cause:
The error is caused by expired or invalid verification links.
Resolution:
- Use the most recent verification email sent by Unity and complete verification within the time window stated in the email.
- If the issue persists after following the troubleshooting steps below, contact Unity Support.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Use a fresh link
- Delete older verification emails and request a new one.
- Open the latest email and click the link within the specified time frame.
- Avoid forwarding the email or copying the link through apps that may alter URLs.
- Check network and device
- Temporarily disable VPNs or proxies and try again.
- If possible, switch to a different network (e.g., mobile hotspot) and/or a different device.
- Review browser setup
- Open the link in a private/incognito window.
- Disable browser extensions (especially ad-blockers/privacy tools) and retry.
- Clear cache/cookies for Unity domains, then retry.
- Try a different browser.
- Review security software
- Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall or add an exception.
- Ensure HTTPS scanning or link-rewriting features are not blocking or modifying the URL.
- Check email settings
- Add @unity3d.com to your safe senders/allowlist.
- If your provider uses link protection/rewrite, view the original link if possible or open the message via the provider’s webmail and click directly.
- Rate limiting
- If you requested verification emails repeatedly, wait 24–48 hours before requesting another.
