If you encounter the error “Access denied: Access to this region is restricted” on the Unity Asset Store despite being in a supported country, it is likely because your Unity Organization was previously set to a restricted region.
To fix this, update your Organization country, bill-to, and ship-to addresses to your current location via the Unity Dashboard, then sign out, clear browser cache/cookies, and sign back in. This should remove the region restriction.
Symptoms
- Error message:
“Access denied: Access to this region is restricted. Please select an organization with the necessary permissions to continue.” - You are located in a non-restricted country but still cannot access the Asset Store.
- Your Unity account profile may appear correct, but the restriction remains.
Cause
This issue can occur if your Unity Organization was previously associated with a restricted region, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau. In this case, the system may automatically block access to the global Unity Asset Store until the Organization information is updated.
Resolution
- Sign in to your Unity account.
- Open your Unity Dashboard and go to Organization Settings.
- Make sure the Organization country matches your current location. even though you are
- Update your bill-to and ship-to address information.
- Save the changes and try accessing the Asset Store again.
Once the Organization information is updated correctly, the region restriction should be removed.
